Rosa rugosa, commonly known as the hedging rose or Japanese rose, is a vigorous, deciduous shrub valued for its dense, thorny growth and exceptional hardiness. It forms an attractive, impenetrable hedge, making it ideal for boundary planting, wildlife habitats, and coastal gardens where it tolerates strong winds, salt spray, and poor soils. Throughout summer, it produces large, fragrant single flowers in shades of pink or white, which are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators. In autumn, these are followed by large, bright red rose hips that provide an important food source for birds and can also be used to make jams, syrups, and teas. Its wrinkled, dark green foliage turns golden-yellow before falling, adding seasonal interest. Low maintenance and disease resistant, Rosa rugosa is an excellent choice for creating a resilient, wildlife-friendly hedge.

How will my plants arrive?
Every plant is checked by our team before it leaves the nursery. Smaller plants are securely boxed, while larger specimens and pallet orders are shipped on our specialist plant courier network to protect foliage and rootballs in transit.
How long does delivery take?
Most orders are dispatched within 7 working days. Larger specimens and rootballed plants may take a little longer, as we deliver these by pallet — we'll contact you to arrange a convenient delivery date. Full details are on our [Shipping Costs] page.
What if my plant arrives damaged or in poor condition?
Let us know within 48 hours of delivery with a couple of photos and we'll put it right with a replacement or refund. We stand behind everything we grow and sell.
Do you offer any guarantee on your plants?
All our plants are nursery-fresh and healthy on dispatch and our shipping companies are hand selected for the care they take, so we guarantee the plant's health on delivery. Let us know immediately is soemthing is wrong and we will provide you support.
Are your plants grown in the UK?
We're a family-run nursery based in Welshpool, Powys. Plants are either grown here on site or sourced from trusted specialist growers, and everything passes through our nursery for inspection before dispatch.
Can I collect my order instead of having it delivered?
Yes — you're welcome to collect from our nursery in Welshpool. Just select collection at checkout [or: give us a ring on 01938 553015 to arrange a time].
Do you sell to the public or trade only?
Both. Despite the name, anyone can order from us — and we offer competitive pricing for landscapers, garden designers and trade customers buying in volume. [Contact us for trade terms.]
