Populus alba (Poplar) -Bare root
Populus alba, commonly known as the white poplar, is a fast-growing deciduous tree belonging to the family Salicaceae. Native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, it is characterized by its distinctive white bark and leaves that are dark green on the upper surface and densely white and woolly beneath, giving the foliage a shimmering appearance in the wind. The white poplar can reach heights of 20 to 30 meters and thrives in moist, well-drained soils, often along riverbanks and floodplains. It is valued for its rapid growth and adaptability, frequently used for erosion control, windbreaks, and ornamental planting. However, due to its aggressive root system and ability to spread through suckers, it can become invasive outside its native range. Ecologically, Populus alba provides habitat and food for numerous insects and birds, while its wood is used for paper, plywood, and light carpentry.
