Euonymus japonica 'Ovatus Aureus' - Potted

£4.95

Euonymus japonica 'Ovatus Aurea' is a cultivar of Japanese euonymus that is often chosen for its distinctive golden-yellow variegated foliage, making it an appealing choice for hedging. Here are some key features and considerations for using Euonymus japonica 'Ovatus Aurea' in a hedging setting:

  1. Foliage:
    • The most striking feature of 'Ovatus Aurea' is its vibrant golden-yellow variegated foliage. The leaves are oval-shaped and glossy, creating a bright and cheerful display throughout the growing season. The golden hue provides a pop of colour in the garden and contrasts well with other green plants.
  2. Size and Growth:
    • This euonymus cultivar typically forms a dense and compact hedge, reaching a height of 3 metres and a similar spread. Its moderate size makes it suitable for various landscape applications, including hedging along pathways, garden borders, or as a backdrop for other plants.
  3. Versatility:
    • Euonymus japonica 'Ovatus Aurea' is versatile and can thrive in a variety of soil types. It is adaptable to different light conditions, performing well in full sun to partial shade. This adaptability allows for flexibility in choosing the right location for your hedge.
  4. Variegated Foliage:
    • The golden variegation of the leaves is maintained throughout the year, adding visual interest to the hedge even in winter. This makes 'Ovatus Aurea' an excellent choice for those looking to create a hedge with year-round appeal.
  5. Low Maintenance:
    • Like many euonymus varieties, 'Ovatus Aurea' is generally low-maintenance. It requires minimal pruning to maintain its shape and density. Pruning can be done in late winter or early spring to encourage branching and remove any dead or straggly growth.
  6. Seasonal Interest:
    • While 'Ovatus Aurea' is primarily valued for its golden variegated leaves, it may produce inconspicuous flowers in late spring to early summer. These flowers are followed by small, ornamental fruits. While not the main feature, they contribute to the plant's seasonal interest.

How will my plants arrive?

Every plant is checked by our team before it leaves the nursery. Smaller plants are securely boxed, while larger specimens and pallet orders are shipped on our specialist plant courier network to protect foliage and rootballs in transit.

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are dispatched within 7 working days. Larger specimens and rootballed plants may take a little longer, as we deliver these by pallet — we'll contact you to arrange a convenient delivery date. Full details are on our [Shipping Costs] page.

What if my plant arrives damaged or in poor condition?

Let us know within 48 hours of delivery with a couple of photos and we'll put it right with a replacement or refund. We stand behind everything we grow and sell.

Do you offer any guarantee on your plants?

All our plants are nursery-fresh and healthy on dispatch and our shipping companies are hand selected for the care they take, so we guarantee the plant's health on delivery. Let us know immediately is soemthing is wrong and we will provide you support.

Are your plants grown in the UK?

We're a family-run nursery based in Welshpool, Powys. Plants are either grown here on site or sourced from trusted specialist growers, and everything passes through our nursery for inspection before dispatch.

Can I collect my order instead of having it delivered?

Yes — you're welcome to collect from our nursery in Welshpool. Just select collection at checkout [or: give us a ring on 01938 553015 to arrange a time].

Do you sell to the public or trade only?

Both. Despite the name, anyone can order from us — and we offer competitive pricing for landscapers, garden designers and trade customers buying in volume. [Contact us for trade terms.]

Can I get advice before I order?

Absolutely. We're real plants people, not a call centre — ring us on 01938 553015 or email orders@derwenwholesale.co.uk and we'll happily help with sizing, spacing, variety choice or anything else.

Do you deliver to my area?

We deliver across mainland UK. Some remote postcodes, the Scottish Highlands and islands may carry a surcharge or longer lead time — see our Shipping Costs page or get in touch.
